Your home, and the place where you are supported, has become your personal assistant’s place of work. An induction will help your personal assistant to settle in quickly. How long it takes to cover all the information, and the learning of new skills, can vary. It can be completed at the start of their training and development. It also helps to build a successful working relationship. Many individual employers train personal assistants themselves, on-the-job. They may also involve other personal assistants, friends and family members.
Sometimes a personal assistant will have worked elsewhere and already received an induction. However, it is important to have an induction for each personal assistant to update their knowledge, help them understand your needs and help you familiarise yourself with their abilities.
